History of GAA

Background

The idea for the Golden Apple Awards, inspired by the Oscars, was first conceived by Sprocket, who presented it on a Mopolauta thread in December 2002. People in the scene were quickly supportive of the idea, and Moposite announced the willingness of arranging it. The name Golden Apple Awards was invented by skint0r.

The award show has been arranged every year since. The longest-lasting GAA crew member SveinR was involved in arranging a commendable total of 11 award shows before retiring. The show has always evolved to match its time, and categories have been added, removed and merged. For example the categories of Multi WR and LGR were removed after the community's interest in those things faded.
